Inositol in a clinical study was compared to an antidepressant known as fluvoxamine. The main treatment was for panic disorders. This was a stringent test of the effects of inositol. On the scales inositol tested slightly better than the pharma grade drug but was otherwise compariable on all other measures like phobia, clinical globa impression scale and the HAS. No changest to liver and kidneys were observed in the clinical trial and inositol maybe a healthy alternative to individuals receiving side effects from this pharma-drug.
